3-D HOUSES
I use a wooden mold and set my cement, clay, or plaster in with walls from 1/4 to 1 inch. The best part is releasing the house from the mold.
CEMENT CLOTH /PAINTING GROUND
The surface of a painting is a where my sculptural sensibilities merge with the the painting. I like to build, layer, mix, and play with a myriad of materials, often establishing a complex landscape before I introduce imagery. I have had fun making what I call cement cloth. I mix a slurry of cement and trowel it onto a panel, usually incorporating cheese cloth or muslim. I trowel it to a very thin consistency and am able to lift the cloth, and re-adhere it with glues and sealants. It make a wonderful surface to paint on as sand into.
