In the last few years I have accompanied both my parents during their deaths. After my father passed I sat in my studio one day, at a loss of what to do. It was a new sense of emptiness. The word "adrift" came to me - and thus came the first boat painting, "Adrift I". These paintings reflect a time of loss, and the unique richness of experience that come when witnessing death. They recently have expanded to include a sense of journeying into my 60's, in and out of new phases of life, always approaching some seemingly distant, often unknown, shore.
